Girls, put your slippers on!

My Grandma Beatrice was one of my best friends growing up. She taught me how to sew and make buttons and crochet and knit. She taught me how to laugh. She was a bit on the eccentric side and had a lot of funny ideas about things, but she lived her own life and didn't really care what other people thought. She is a part of me.
I think of her every single day and thank her for my warm feet and healthy insides. When I was five, she told me to never, ever go barefoot because I would freeze my uterus. At the time, I didn't know what a uterus was....only that if I had one, I certainly didn't want to freeze it. I wore slippers from then on. Every day, when slippering my feet, I think of her and laugh. Thank you Bea, for the wise advice and for making me smile.
