Last Friday, we went to town to run some errands and visit friends. When we got home there was a booming party in full swing. Rose and Sophie were having a birthday celebration for Rose and I must say, I was quite impressed with their decorations....never mind the photo booth beside their barn. SHE wasn't quite as impressed as they had used her new table saw to build the photo booth and left it out in the rain. All of the outdoor cats in the neighborhood were invited it appears and a good time was had by all. More photos will follow....(I have to do some photo editing as there are a few embarrassing shots of Sylvia doing what I can only imagine is "The Chicken Dance".
To make matters worse, SHE came home last week on what had been an extremely hot day to find that I had used Her best new sun tarp to make a tent for the goats. (I tried to put #30 sunscreen on Sophie's poor ears but Rose kept licking it off.
HER: WHAT ARE YOU DOING? GOATS DON'T NEED A SUN TARP!! THEY ARE GOATS! DO YOU THINK ALL OF THE FARMERS IN NEWFOUNDLAND HAVE RUN OUT TO THEIR PASTURES TO PUT UP TENTS AND SUNSCREENS FOR THEIR COWS AND SHEEP AND GOATS? SHOULD WE HAVE THEM RUN THROUGH THE SPRINKLER NEXT? THIS IS NOT THE CIRQUE DU SOLIEL FOR GOATS!! PERHAPS WE SHOULD PUT  AN AIR CONDITIONER IN THEIR BARN!
Me: Do we have an extension cord long enough for that?
HER: I AM BEING SARCASTIC!!! YOU HAVE TO STOP BABYING THEM AND TREATING THEM LIKE CHINA DOLLS. THEY ARE GOATS!!!!!
I might have stuck out my tongue but if you didn't see it, I didn't do it.

Later on that day I pass her the lunch. Tuna sandwiches with pickles.
HER: Thank you! Thank you!!  My Favourite! Would you mind please cutting off the crusts, but only if you are going back to the kitchen?
ME: WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? A GOAT?

I found your blog through Sea Strand Studios and I adore your writing, your home and your goats and cats. How did you come to obtain goats? Do you find that they do well in Newfoundland? I'm happy to see that they are becoming the trend on the Rock. I'm dreaming of living there some day, I have family in St. John's and thereabouts, and my hope is to have goats myself.
